How come all the cute baby clothes are for boys? The girls clothes make me want to puke!. The boys clothes have cute puppy dogs, like huskies on them, and even guitars and skulls. But the girls clothes are all cheap looking pink with little flowers. I can't believe people prefer the girls clothing. I'm so sick of the brown and pink mix outfits. There is an abundance of cute baby girl clothes everywhere, but I have a hard time finding baby boy clothes that don't have airplanes, cars, balls and baseball bats on them. my baby girl is turning 1 year old, im freaking out as to how to make this birthday very unique and pretty one I'm bit of a perfectionist, somedays i think.....she should be in her diaper and thats it. most of days im thinking, she's a got a beautiful party dress in white , and i get some fairy wings which i put on her at very last time........bring loads of white ballons, wear pretty white clothes, a perfect cutest cake etc. I'm at point of breaking down as wt to do. Why are the clothes for baby boys so generic, and where to go to find something cool? What I'm getting at is, there are so many cool clothes for new born baby girls. Yes some is your generic "this shirt is pink with a flower on it so it's for girls", but there are some really cool unique designs also. What boys have is "blue shirt with basketball slapped on the chest equal boy clothes" and thats it. But I want to get things like a cute hat with a bear design/bear cartoony ears with a nice theme to the outfit. Or basically anything that isn't just some basic blue shirt with after thought football icon slapped on the front. Unique baby shower gift? I'm looking for a unique baby shower gift for a girlfriend of mine. She & her husband are due to have baby #2 (a boy..they have a 3 year old girl) and some friends are throwing her a small shower. She doesn't know about it, and hasn't registered anywhere. I'm opening a small baby store and want your opinion? my fiancé and I are planning to open a store in the next bit, carrying unique and trendy baby clothes, accessories and some limited furniture for the nursery. Not the stuff you'd find in Walmart, Toys r Us etc... Anyways, we're having a debate on one aspect of the store. Through his work, he has a lot of connections in China and wants to send them samples of what we want (ie clothing and furniture) and hopefully have them produce it at a smaller cost, so we can then turn around and sell it to you at a lower price. He is adament that you actually can get high quality goods out of China, if you choose the right manufacturers that don't cut corners.. I believe there is a very strong stigma against Chinese made goods (no matter the quality) and it could hurt the image of our little shop, especially with the clientele that I am hoping to target. (Trendy, well off, working couples, who would rather spend money on their kids than themselves.) I guess I'm asking parents out there, which you would honestly buy for your kids. High quality (yet more affordable) Chinese made products or something made in North America (for example) that is possibly as much as 25% more expensive, but it doesn't say "made in China". what are your opinions? also, what are some of your fav brands to buy for your kids? and what colour did you do your nursery in for your boy/girl? fun and unique ways to announce my pregnancy?!? I am 17 weeks and 3 days pregnant with a baby girl! My family still don't no i am pregnant, only me and my fiance no. Baby shower etiquette and questions, please help!!!! (Very Simple!!!)? I'll make this easy, i have questions about baby showers, and baby shower etiquette. I'm 3 months pregnant, and although my Mom is throwing me the shower, we are planning it together. Here's my questions: 1: How far along should the pregnant girl be when she has her shower? shy guy, shy girl. prom. what to do? Me and this guy have so much in common. Its crazy. We both have 7 siblings. We both want to go to Brown Univ or Univ of Penn. We both are kind of weird in one way or another. For him, he was home schooled up to high school and was very shy for a while. He is a smart and quiet jock. That's just weird. Me, I'm just weird. Items from Tutus to frames to purses & wall hangings & a few anthropology like clothing pieces. Name cannot be to baby or the "tweens" will not shop there. Want it to be catchy but simple.

My youngest is worried for the new baby? I have three daughters, five year old twins and a 3.5 year old. The twins are used to taking care of each other and their little sister and are excited to tell their friends about the baby (due really any day now!) but Coco, my youngest, is worried - of course, she won't be the 'baby' anymore and with two older sisters and the rest of our family always doting on her, she seems to really be bummed about losing that spot. We've psyched her up - along with our older two, as to not leave anyone out - and allowed her to help choose names, clothes, colors, toys, etc. and I encourage her and talk very enthusiastically about 'Coco being mommy's helper when Baby Sister comes!' but she only gives a little smile. She isn't outspoken whatsoever, and is very very shy, so she doesn't have fits or resort to childish behavior - I can just sense her woes. She's a good girl and won't get in the way and try to steal attention, but i think that makes it even harder because she may suffer in silence. Any unique ideas?

Are you sick of mainstream vampire stories, and can you recommend one that isn't? Please, for the love of God, if you're going to respond to this freaking out because you love Twilight or Anne Rice, spare me. You're free to love whatever you want and I'm not going to make fun of you for it, just as I'm free not to like it. For the rest of you: Do you think the vampire has been overdone in literature? It seems like everyone these days has written a story about a vampire and a plucky heroine, and they usually follow along the lines of "Girl has some sort of incredibly desireable/unique ability/quality that makes her LEAK awesome, vampire spends much time fighting other vampires for her honour". I blame writers like Christine Feehan and Laurell K Hamilton for completely domesticating a once terrifying folk legend and turning them into curly-haired depressed men in velvet robes looking for true love. It's like putting a pink bow on a wolverine after you've drugged it up and dressed it in baby clothes. I'm not saying the whole chick/vampire thing is automatically terrible. "Sunshine" by Robin McKinley flirts with the same old tired story elements, but saves it by crafting a unique spin on the vampires and the world as a whole. But I guess what I'm asking is, do you remember when vampires are scary, and don't you miss that? Part of the reason I enjoyed "30 Days of Night" so much was because it was such a departure from the usual vampire stories -- these were creatures to be feared. Even Stephen King's "Salem's Lot" takes vampires right to the edge of respectability. They USED to be something to be afraid of, not something you wrote sappy fan fiction over, and I guess I miss that. It's only in the last fifteen years or so that this has really come out. I tend to automatically roll my eyes now every time I see a book that involves vampires because I've started to expect they're all the same and I'm sure I've missed out on some good ones. Can you please recommend to me any (recent) vampire stories that are honest-to-God horror stories? I don't have to justify my reason for not liking an author's work, nor should I be shamed for it. It's a matter of personal taste. For the subject matter and for the style of writing, I do NOT enjoy the Anita Blake series, but I can see why some other people do. My opinion that her work helped to domesticate the vampire in popular media is just as valid as yours is that she did not because we're working from different viewpoints. Read her stuff and enjoy it, because I don't.

Do you have "competitive" mom friends? My cousin had a baby girl 5 months ago and I have a 2.5 year old. Everytime I talk to her, and I say piper did something new, she has to say...oh, well karlie did "insert baby milestone here." or She will ask if I've gotten Piper any new clothes and I'll say yes and tell her what I got and she'll say "oh, I almost got than for my daughter, but it just wasn't good, cute, whatever enough. I get Piper a toy, she has to get it for her daughter. If I get Pip's pictures taken, she's getting her kid's taken with the same background. It doesn't bother me too much, I just think it's a little odd. Did you know anyone who did this? Should I take it as flattering imitation or slighty annoying competition? Btw, I think competing with your children is kind of immature. Our daughters are both special in their own unique ways.

Unique newborn baby gift idea to double as christmas present? Hi everyone! My little sister had a baby girl last night (YAY I'm an aunty again!!) and we are going over in 2 weeks to visit. I will be bringing all the christmas presents for family that live up where she does and wanted something for baby. Any idea's for a unique present I can give them? baby shower gift...? thanks? Any gift dont know if its a boy or girl. Its her second child the other one is 2 we have known each other since we were very little like age 3. Shes 20. So a young mom... the first child i just gave lots of clothes (in all different sizes cause i knew she wa sgonna get lots of newborn clothes....i got her ababy bath and a duck that shows if its too hot (the mom loves rubber ducks... but i dont know what to give this time... i think she has been too busy with college work and the other child to make any sort of baby registry... any unique ideas. What to buy a newborn little girl who has 3 older sisters? My aunty is due sometime soon with her fourth daughter and even though I live in a different state and have had my whole life, I'd like to buy a gift but I have no idea what. I was thinking something unique or personalised with the babies name, but i figure with three other daughters they've most likely got enough blankets. My aunty has a good sense of humour so i know if i bought a little onsie with something funny on it, she'd laugh.. But all babies have tonnes of clothes.. I know whenever they used to come visit, my aunty would love buying the pretty dresses/clothes because where they're from, they don't sell stuff that nice.. but again with the clothes. What are some other ideas of things I could get? Obviously nothing too large as it has to been posted.
