Alternatives to Babies R Us? Does anyone know of a store/chain comparable to Babies R Us? The locations in my area frustrate me beyond belief. There seems to be little rhyme and reason to the set-up, people can never find what they're looking for, and the help is nonexistent at best. It irks me every time I have to go in there, but there doesn't seem to be an alternative. I like Target because they have a pretty wide selection, but is there any place that is baby-specific and has the selection of Babies R Us? It just seems like that's the only option, so that's what people are stuck with... (I live in the northeastern MA/southern NH area)
Lots of Baby Registry questions!? Ok - I find out the sex of the baby on Thursday, and I planned to go start my baby registry this weekend. *First of all, is that too early to start it at 20 weeks? I have A LOT of family and friends from out of state (and in Canada and Germany) so I figured I should start as soon as I know the sex. But then again, what do I know? :P *Is it tacky to register at more than one location? Someone said Babies R Us is the best, someone else said do it at WalMart because they're everywhere. (Anyone with lots of family spread out please let me know!) *What should I buy? I think it's asking a lot for others to buy strollers, carseats, cribs, etc. *What should I suggest? I am afraid if I put clothes or blankets that I'll end up with a room full of each and nowhere to put them, or that my child will outgrow clothing before they're able to wear it! *Is it rude to put it on Baby shower invitations? kind of a -hint hint- to the guests? I always try to use registries (for babies or weddings) just to be safe, but I know a lot of people could care less. Any help is appreciated, and also any other helpful tips :) Thanks!
Best items for a baby register (include brands if you have a recommendation)? My husband and I will be registering for our baby shower soon. We are first time parents. I was just wanting advice on what parents have found to really be the best items to have with a newborn. If you can recommend specific brands of the items that would be great too. I would like to chose our items knowing that people recommend them due to their past experiences...current parents would know more about which brand work best and which items are more used/needed that I would be able to figure out1 We were going to look at Target, Babies-R-Us, and Baby Depot (in Burlington Coat Factory) as our possible registry locations. Thanks! I meant Baby Registry! I overlooked that-Sorry!
Baby shower gift request.. How to word this correctly and not rudely..? I am throwing a baby shower for some friends. They have almost everything they need as far as small items go. They need the big ticket items like the crib and car seat and travel system. I was thinking about asking for gift cards for the places that have the items they've picked out.. Does this sound rude? Mr and Mrs blank are asking for gift cards from target or babies r us so that they can add them together to purchase the large items they need. However if you had wanted to get them something more personal they are registered at both locations under Mrs Blank of Blank, Tx. Obviously I will be using their names and this city but I don't want to splash their names up for the world to see. Is that rude or can you think of a nicer way for me to address this?
Black Friday Shopping Advice...Please Read ;-)? I am going shopping on Black Friday - only to Toys / Babies R Us, They open at 5am - I plan on being there at 4:30am, is that an okay time? I also printed out the five or six items I want and plan on going to the store tonight or tomorrow to find their locations ahead of time so I know right where to go - I have never gone so early before - my husband thinks I am nuts but is happy he will be at home snuggling with our son while I fight the crowds! Last year i went shopping but not til the afternoon when the craziness died - is it really that nuts. And is 4:30am a good time to get there? Alex - I am not bringing my son but great advice though! My son will be sound asleep at home --- with his daddy! this is a chance for me to do some shopping so my son doesn't see it! I would not drag him out that early ! He wakes up at like 8am!

Moms would you consider this tacky? I got invited to a baby shower and here is what it said GIFT CARDS & DIAPERS ARE WELCOME! *JUST A LITTLE FYI: THE HALL ROAD & VAN DYKE LOCATION ACCEPTS CURRENT "BED, BATH & BEYOND" 20% OFF COUPONS THAT CAN BE USED AT BABIES R US. *PLEASE LEAVE TAGS ON MERCHANDISE AS WELL AS INCLUDE GIFT RECEIPTS DUE TO THE FACT THAT BABY MAY RECIEVE DUPLICATES OF THE SAME ITEM. Would that be considered tacky?
Swaddler for my 6 month old son? My son is 6 months old and weighs 20lbs. He is a big boy but still loves to be swaddled to sleep, He has grown out of the swaddler he got from the NICU at the hospital when he was a newborn. I have looked EVERYWHERE and cannot find one large enough for him. The largest I could find online was a "large" at Babies R Us, and I am not sure that will fit his chunky butt. :) Does anyone know of a place, online or on location, where I could get one that would be big enought for him?
I want to open up a children's boutique. How do I get started? I live in Atlanta, GA, I am 26 years old with an associates degree and I have worked as a legal secretary for years until I was laid off. I have been out of work now for going on two years taking up temp jobs here & there. I am growing tired and I have always had a dream of opening up my own boutique selling children's clothes up to the age of 5. Now i have no idea or clue how to start a business or where to start. I know it takes money. I was thinking that I might have to pay someone to prepare a business plan for me so that I can present it to a bank for a possible loan. I have an idea of where the location would be and I have a name. I figured there would be no employees just me until business started getting well. Any who I would love any advice anyone can give me. I honestly have no money my credit isn't the greatest but I am motivated. My boutique will be quite unique because it will cater to a certain gender but i do not want to elaborate. I am not sure what retail store or wholesales stores I can contact for pricing on clothing. I am going for more maybe not designer clothing for kids but very good quality clothing and different clothing that you could not just go pick up at your local children's place or babies r us.
MOMMIES, PLEASE I NEED UR HELP...!!!? Pls where and where are the best shops to get great deals on DURABLE baby stuff, for a mum-to-be with LIMITED funds who realyyy does not want to get fairly-used stuff for her precious baby! (Even if I have to work ten jobs, I want to get new stuff for my baby). And Im nt real bothered about clothing, more like playpens, feeding stuff, cribs, everythn for a new baby. (This is my 1st, so I have nothing AT ALL) Been looking online and I notice WALMART has some good prices (compared to other stores I saw, like TOYS R US for babies stuff and co.) The problem is that I have never realy had much faith in WALMART, the very few things I have got from there in my life turned out to be a panny-wise-pound-foolish experience (ie not durable) Pls note location: Calgary (Canada) Thank you (in advance) for your suggestions
Be cautious when buying name brand for your baby!!? I don’t know about you, but I used to thing that name brands are worth the extra money because they care about their product and make sure that anything that’s out there stands up to their brand, not so. Last week I bought a box of Earth’s Best Organic Cereal at Toys R Us (due to it’s convenient location to our home). I brought it home to realize that it expired in November 2006. today my husband went to Ralph’s (local big chain grocery store) to look for cereal. Out of 5 Earth’s Best Organic Cereal boxes 3 were expired. A month ago at Target I found a whole batch of expired Pampers Baby Dry diapers that can leave a horrible rash on a baby’s behind. Also last month I bought a “Water, Water, Everywhere” book, appropriate birth +, by Baby Einstein from Borders. It’s a plastic book and I could read for my 5 month old and she could mouth on it as well. It smelled of plastic horribly and after checking to see what it was made off I found that the whole exterior was made out of PVC. PVC plastic has known cancer causing chemicals that are really dangerous when ingested through the mouth. And what do babies do with their toys? And that’s from a company that was founded by a mother. I’m a first time mother and I am shocked at how little is done to make sure that people like me that don’t yet know any better do not expose their children to potentially dangerous things. What is your story? What other labels do we have to read or stores avoid? I probably named the post wrong. I chose to say name brand because when it came to name brands I would just pick it up and throw in it the basket without double checking. That’s how I ended up with an expired box of cereal and a book that should not be near a baby. If it would have been Target brand or Kirkland I would have checked twice. I’m sure that there are people out there like me that when it comes to brands they don’t pay attention
Is it possible that the cat might not be able to find her kittens because we moved them from where she litterd? Recently we discovered a litter of 3 kittens in a big cardboard box on a high platform in our backyard. We moved it down because she failed to come one afternoon and the kittens were howling. I could not resist trying to feed them milk, which they refused to touch. Now, I do not know if the mother has been able to meet her babies in the new location. Ive heard her meow often but I feel she is unable to approach them for some reason. I am worried that the kittens will suffer and die without food. They must be four weeks old (if not less). They have become friendly with us but we are scared the mother might attack us if she sees us with them. They often cry at night and they wail to be let out of the box everytime they see me. They r too small to climb out on their own. Also, I do not want to leave them out in the open due to danger from monkeys and other such animals. What should I do!! I want the mother to find them again and take care of them. I do not want to adopt them but cant see them suffering like this either! :( Please help someone!!
Did you know that illegals are costing every taxpayer $11,000 EVERY year?? Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Arizona Posts: 254 Secure the southern border -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.proliberty.com/observer/20060802.htm From the August 2006 Idaho Observer: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Secure the southern border The U.S. population is almost 300 million now. Since the Bush administration announced its intent to grant amnesty to the estimated 7 million undocumented primarily Mexican aliens living illegally in the U.S., the numbers have swelled. Estimates of the numbers of illegals range from 11 million to 40 million. That fact alone—that estimates vary by 29 million—should be of some concern to the Bush administration and its department of Homeland Security. But instead, American airline passengers can no longer travel with their own water or toothpaste. Thousands pour in every day. While we must show compassion for many of those attempting to flee the country of their birth for better lives in America, we must realize that Bush administration immigration "policy" will play a huge role in whatever horrible scenario is planned for all of us. The evidence shows that politicians on both sides of the border have created this problem because they know the inevitable outcome of resultant cultural tensions is violence. Take a look at the story on pages 16-17. Those who are pulling our strings believe that wars are for poor people to die in so that rich people can get richer. What do I do with these baby rabbits? Alright. So my neighbors pitbull attacked a rabbits nest and my brother intervened in time to save two baby rabbits, with out being harmed by the dog, cuz the dog knows us. Anyway I now am the care giver of 2 baby rabbits I think they at least 3 or 4 weeks old but I'm not entirely sure. I don't know if they r eating the food we got which is alfalfa or drinking the water, every time I go near the box they don't move, all I know is that when I woke up this morning they had hopped over to the other side of the box and were cuddling, we plan on releasing them in a week at a safer location. But until then. What do I do?
Amazon.com doesn't deliver to South Africa? Hi. I am looking to purchase a 3terabyte seagate harddrive through amazon. I have tried amazon.com and amazon.uk but both of them give me a error when I enter my adress, saying "Cannot deliver to your location". I can buy the 3TB harddrive localy, but it costs R2000, Where as the price for the exact same harddrive on amazon is R1400, so its a R600 saving (including the delivery cost which is R60). For currency information, 1 US dollar is R6,90 and 1 Brittish Pound is R11. R = Rand (South Africa's currency). Can any body please help me with information? Maybe you can provide a website that delivers to South Africa, or just give me a solution to the problem. South Africa is as neutral as a baby panda bear, so I dont know why US and UK wont deliver here...? Thank you in advance for your assistance @Victor.. thanks for the suggestion, but one of the items I selected through the addon that you provided still gave me the error ( Seagate FreeAgent Desk 2 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive ST320005FDA2E1-RK (Silver) cannot be shipped to the selected address. ).. so my problem is still unsolved :(
why do things have to get so hard when you love someone? Loving someone never gets easier. It doesn’t get harder either, love just grows stronger. So one thing that used to be easy, changes into something that makes your heart break over and over again. Being married to someone who is gone half the time is difficult, it is even move difficult when the other person doesn’t show it. I make decisions based on my heart, and he makes them based on whats best. I don’t think either is right or wrong. Maybe it is just easier for one to be away. The first deployment wasn’t too horrible, I only knew him for 4 months before he had to leave and I knew what I was getting myself into. Even though I only knew him for 4 months I still cried the whole car ride back to my college. He proposed when he came home for R&R and we got married one day after came home. Our love continued to grew stronger and stronger each day that passed on. Everyday we told each other it would get easier. We had a beautiful baby girl who is now 5 months old. I spend every day with her and feel so blessed that I am able to do so. And part of me is sad that my husband cant do the same. I know he loves his daughter move than life itself. Today we came across another dilemma, he got orders to move to a different location, and this is because he has to deploy next jan. I was so excited to move, I spend the whole day looking for a house and found the perfect one. I was ready to get out of this shitty town, ready to be somewhere where it is just him and I and out baby girl, and out dogs of course. Money is a proble, he is only 23 and I am only 20, so like most people our age we are doing OK… since we have some money to pay of he doesn’t think it’s a good idea for me and our daughter to move to the house yet, since we really don’t have the money to do that right now. He wants to pay of our credit card which will only take us 6 months now, and have us move then. Meanwhile he spends the time where he is assigned to, and comes to visit us on the weekend. I know…doesn’t sound like such a bad idea. But the fact that he is deploying in jan. which means I don’t really get to see him for 6 months brings tears to my eyes. This means I will only spend 5 months with him before he deploys and misses a whole year of my daughters life and my life. I hate it. It never seems to get easier. I don’t know what do to…I love him so much but I feel like my heart is breaking over and over again when he has to leave. I hate doing things alone, I hate sleeping alone, I hate making dinner for one. Movies are not the same. It is a horrible thing having to go a whole year without a kiss or a hug from the man i want to spend every minute of every day with. Especially when everything around me reminds me of him. Im sorry for the long rant….i have been sitting here crying because I don’t know what to do anymore.
I'm literally so worried right now. My husband is deployed. At first the deployment was going fine.? We talked everyday on the computer. He called me about every 2 weeks or so. When he came for R&R we went to visit family instead of going somewhere with just me, him and our daughter. About a month after he gets back to deployed location, he says he doesn't deserve me. he doesn't know why I love him. He says he is not happy, not with ME but with life in general. He feels life has let him down. He said he just doesn't know about us. He later wrote me an email, saying let's work it out. I'm sorry for everything I've done, I know I've let you down and I'm sorry it will never happen again etc. About a week after that he says we should look into getting a divorce, that he is not in love with me anymore. Well it's been 4 months since that happened, everything was going ok. Still weren't talking NEARLY as much as we used to. But out of the blue a couple weeks ago he ims me and flips out. Telling me I never listen to him, all this mess. He said I have medication for when I get home. I then told him that I had already got on Zoloft. He got mad, asked me why I was sad, I have nothing to be sad about, I'm able to buy whatever I want (I had breast augmentation). I told him I got on it when he told me he wanted a divorce. He said well you know we're still going to talk and see how things go when I get home. Now he only has 2 weeks until he gets home. He isn't talking to me at all when I email him, he doesn't answer my emails. I can call his phone though, and he always picks up, and if he doesn't he calls me back within the hour. So technically I can't say he is ignoring me. I'm worried. I guess my question is how common is this? Could a male veteran tell me what is going on? This is his 3rd deployment. I'm just so worried. A little more to the story I know this is long. But I do everything, I massage his feet every night when he is home, I work full time and still do all the duties of a stay at home mom or housewife. I never refuse sex. His first wife cheated on him multiple times while he was deployed, she also told him she wanted a divorce while he was deployed. I haven't even looked at another man. I couldn't conceive of it. He has been let down by every woman in his life, his bio mom, his adoptive mom. I'm wondering if he feels I am going to let him down? He told me before his first wife said she would never hurt me, and look what she did. That I was telling him the same thing and what happens if I let him down to? I feel like I am a good wife. I'm just confused. I'm scared, worried. I want so much for things to work out and my heart is telling me it will but how do I help HIM when he gets home? And what could be making him do this? I don't think people understand the stress a lot of wives go through with deployments. I know that sounds so selfish of me, I don't intend for it to sound that way, he is under way more stress than I am. I am just so upset by this whole situation. I've been ALONE completely for an entire year. Just me and my baby and the people I work with. It's just so hard. He was supposed to be there for me and for the last 4 months he he's not. The thing is he says that he is not over what the ex wife did to him, stabbing him in the back when he needed her, he doesn't want her, he is over HER, just not what she did. Yet he is doing the same to me. Thanks to anyone who reads and responds.
To anyone who must know, (towards one of the answers given), he can sit, roll, and he's even trying to crawl now. My son only wants to be swaddled when he sleeps and thats the only time we do it. My doctor says it perfectly natural and she's seen 12 month old still swaddled because of the "sense of security" it gives.

why do i feel so nesty? okay. this is serious! lol I am 17 I went into toys r us with my brother. I spent the entire time in babies r us picking out cribs, rockers, blankies, and clothes. I cannot stop thinking about children, like really. its bad. I made a morph of my boyfriends and mine child, and everything. I have my wedding dress, colors, and location picked out. I look for houses for sale for the sake of day dreaming that i will be buying them with my boyfriend one day. Why is this? I know that it is hormones, but why is the feeling so strong? Its like I used to make fun of people like me.... :) I don't plan on running out and getting preggers, or anything silly like that. Im not stupid. I wlll be through college before anything like that happens. I promise :) I'm actually more curious about the science behind that feeling.
Is it okay to reapply here? I worked at babies r us for a month over Christmas for the season, they said they would hold my application for a year. Can I reapply at another location or would they most likely not hire me because i've already worked at their store?
