newborn photography?? i am having a friend come over tomorrow to take pictures of my newborn, does anyone have any unique ideas of poses or props i could use?? she has a professional camera so the pics will turn out great

Where can I find blankets for newborn photography? I see all these great blankets in other photographer's photos but I cannot find them anywhere. I've looked at every store and I've searched Etsy and ebay but I'm not finding them. Does anyone know of a website that sells homemade blankets meant for photography?

What color should I use for a Photography Newborn Cocoon? I am having some cocoons (pea pods, wraps etc) made for my Photography and I'm just curious what colors you think would be nice. They will be used with black backgrounds...I don't want pink or blue because I am getting two different styles and I was thinking of getting them in neutral colors like browns, tans, grey's and depending on the sex of the baby I can just add a blue or pink ribbon...what color do you think would be best?

Where can i find a doll bed to use as a photography prop for a newborn? Im started to get photo props because Im going to start a photography side job. But i cant find a good doll bed that is not crazy high pricing. I already have pretty much everything ie: camera, lenses, backdrops etc. That's why I'm working on getting more props. I know how to take pictures and they are not cheesy at all. My question is about a doll bed not your input on how to take pictures.

Newborn photography workshop - what questions should I ask? I am going to a photography workshop in the next few weeks, and she said no question is off limits... so im looking for help from other pros. What kinds of questions should I ask? Help with Camera settings, Newborn photography?!? Im no professional, I do photography as a hobby. I just got an olympus e-420 and im not so sure about changing the settings and what would work best. My nephew was recently born and i'd like to take some nice pictures of him with this camera. I love how alot of the newborn photographs are blurred just in background. I have learned that people a large aperture and a shutter speed of 1/250 or above. Im reading the manual for my camera, thought i had it through the manual setting but as im playing around with the camera and taking pictures it's not quit doing what i want it to do. Any advice, or different ways to change settings would be helpful. Thanks I was also playing with it in the aperture priority as it seems a little easier for me. The lowest it will go is a f 3.5... then on the side i can adjust from -5.0 to a +5.0. Im not understanding what thats for either.

How do I take my photography to a proffesional level? I have been into photography for quite a few years but never pursued it further than for fun. I have people tell me all the time I should do it for a living. I am just wondering what kind of ways I can earn money with my photos? I am teaching right now but will be taking maternity leave in a about a month. Newborn Photography tips? So im a newbie at taking portraits of newborns, photography is a hobby of mine.. so im no pro! I actually am a tad unsure of how to use my camera. Im just looking for some tips, like for lighting (i plan to use natural lighting), flash on or off, how to do aperture correctly, shutter speed, if i should use manual, aperture priority, etc.. My cam will only go to an f/3.5 aperture. I have taking a few practice pics of objects and cant seem to get the blurred effect behind focal point? Newborn photography provided by hospital? The hospital I'm giving birth at has outside photographers come in to take pictures of the baby if you'd like them to. I'm not sure how much it costs, I'll ask next month when I pre-register at the hospital, but what I'm wondering is did any of you use this service if it was provided by your hospital? Was it expensive? Did the pictures come out good? [newborn babies aren't exactly known for their great looks, LOL] Also, is this the picture you used for your birth announcements? I'm debating just waiting a week or so and going to Wal-Mart or Sears and doing portraits there for the birth announcements.

Newborn Photography Advice Please? I do photography as a hobby right now and my sister had her baby March 14th, I really wanted to get pictures of him under 10 days old because of what I have read but he's been inbetween breastfeeding and bottlefeeding and her breastmilk hasn't come in much yet so he's mostly formula now and Dr. changed his formula a last week so he's been a cranky baby so we are going to try on Sunday to get some pics of him since he's been doing a lot better now, he will be 3 weeks on Monday...are 3 week olds much harder to position?

Flash photography and newborn? Hiya, we have a two day old baby and being home has brought a stream of visitors etc! My father visited today and he brought his professional camera fitted with flash. He took a photo and said 'whoops, no flash, forgot to turn it on' and I said to him that I didn't want him to use a flash and I could turn up the room lights a bit (dimmer switch).  He got all grumpy and started moaning about how he wouldn't get any decent photos and I said I'd got decent photus from my iPhone and generic digital camera so with his professional digital camera and another brought as back up if it was bad lighting he could tweak it on his computer (professional software.) A little less than half an hour, Emily woke up and he walked over with his camera and said "ooh, what colour are her eyes?" I answered and he put his camera about 2 feet away from her face, popped up the flash and took a picture.   Now, I don't know about you, but I know that if someone uses a flash I get those bright spots in front of my eyes for a little while. That's usually from a fair distance too. He was up in her face and the way she reacted told me she wasn't comfortable. She closed her previously wide open eyes and screwed up her whole face and didn't open her eyes again for a while.  I was pi**ed off to say the least and said I didn't want him to use a flash. He got all stroppy and left shortly afterwards.  Can anyone help me find a definitive research on whether it a)hurts the baby to have that happen; b) whether worse still, if it does any damage to them.  It seems opinion is fairly divided and that most mothers aren't willing to risk their baby for a research.  Thank you. 

Anyone know which photography company was used in 2007 @ Seton Medical Center Austin Texas for Newborns? My son was born July 2007 @ Seton Med Center Austin Texas. I was told by the photography company that the pictures would be available to order 18 yrs, but I can't find any of my paper work, so I dont know any names, or numbers!!!!! I wanted to order more pictures. If there's anyone out there who may know, please help!!!! I have called the hospitals and looked up several photography companies that specialize in newborns.

Would anyone happen to know if I can reorder photo prints of my children through the hospital photography? My children were born in 2000 and 2002 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, TN. On the day of discharge, their pictures where taken with the photography studio through the hospital nursery. I have since lost their newborn photos, the reason behind is a long story. I would love to have their baby photos again and I was wondering of anyone knew if I could reorder these photos somehow. If so, I would greatly appreciate any help anyone had to offer. How much cheesecloth do I use to wrap a newborn? I just bought 6 yards of cheesecloth as a photography prop. I was wondering how much I would need to wrap a newborn up. Do you think segmenting it into 1 yard sections is enough or not even close? I am new to this whole cheesecloth thing and have no idea where to even start. Best lens for newborn and kid shots with a Nikon d90? I know VERY little about photography but recently a d90 was nearly gifted to me. It came with a af-s nikkor 70-300. Don't know what that means.....I want to take close ups of my newborn (in jan) and pics of my active toddler now. This ginormous lens seems more suited to older kids and sports. Right? Photographing newborn TWINS? What do I need for a newborn photography shoot? My sister is having her first baby (a little girl) at the end of January. I am an (amateur) photographer. Newborn Photoshoot.....questions, now I am kinda nervous I wasnt before? What is the best photography light setup for newborn shoots? I am getting more and more indoor newborn sessions and I want to get the best even lighting possible. Currently all I have is an external flash and a reflector. Not all clients have well lit homes so I want to get a more fool proof lighting setup that takes the harshness out of bouncing my flash.
