Looking for a poem that fits a military (preferably Marine Corps)father anxious to come home to his baby girl.

My husband is in Iraq and wants to get our daughter a pillow and thought to a put a poem on it that reflects how he has felt during the time he left her. He left when she was only 2 weeks old and will return when she is 7 mths.
I love what the answers said about him writing his feelings down, but he isn't one of those men who can do that. Boy do I wish he could. lol

1. You could always suggest that he just put his thoughts into prose form... Poetry doesn't HAVE to rhyme, it just has to have meaning. I think if he put his actual feelings down on paper, that would probably be even more meaningful to his baby girl than any poem written by someone else. Good luck, and I wish him a safe homecoming.

2. Just want to say thank you (all three of you) for your sacrifice.

I'd just have him put down his feelings as if he had to sum it all up in a few lines. If he had to convey his feelings on like a telegram or something ...what are the important things that he'd want to say. The fact that he wants to do something like this will mean more to your daughter than anything else. Makes me want to cry!

God Bless
