When do babies start sleeping through the night?
My son's pediatrician said babies start sleeping through the night when are able to eat more in one feeding in order to keep them satisfied for a longer period of time. How old was your baby when they started sleeping through the night?
actually, food does have something to do with it. If a baby is hungry, he will wake up to eat. If he eats more in one feeding he will "last longer" through the night. My son only wakes up during the night to eat.

1. My daughter started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks old. She is now 12 weeks old and still sleeping through the night...anywhere from 6-10 hours a night. I dont expect this to last forever though...lol.
2. Um, every baby is different. Even your pediatrician can't give you an absolute answer on when the baby will sleep all night. I have an 18 month old who still doesn't sleep all night. My friend's baby is a few months younger, 8 or 9 months I believe, and still doesn't sleep all night. Some babies do it a whole lot earlier. But you have your exceptions. I also think that how you deal with the child during the night plays a significant factor. Like for me, my toddler still sleeps with us so it's more of a learned behavior and my fault. You might be different. Good luck!
3. My son started around 3 months...and then he stopped at 5 months. He was up every night 4 or 5 times until he turned 11 months or so and started sleeping through again. He went through phases and different sleep patterns. He's 19 months now, and sleeps 12 hours a night unless he is not feeling well like this week in particular.
Keep in mind that every baby is different...and it is not definitely based on what they eat/how much they eat. Your doctor shouldn't really be giving out that advice because lots of people will then think they should be starting their babies on solids earlier...not good.
4. My daughter began sleeping through (about 7 hours, from 11ish to 6-7 a.m) at 7 months. But all babies are different, and some sleep through as early as 1-2 months, and others not until a year or more.
5. Food doesn't generally have anything to do with it. A baby will sleep through the night when they are ready to. My daughter is almost 9 months old and continues to wake up several times throughout the night. My friends daughter is over a year old and still wakes up. Hunger is not the only thing that will cause a child to wake up in the evening. Hunger could be a factor, but if he relies on you to put him to sleep, whether it be by rocking or nursing, he is not able to use his own resources to put himself back to sleep.
6. kiki i perfer a shot of wiskey or a xanix..does wonders...kidding time takes time and no child is the same..you deal with it..nurture them and love them...I walked the floors with my sons and had to work the next day..remind them when they get disrespectfull ..love love love.
7. my son is 2 and has slept through the night like 5 times, i wish i knew the answer i have tried everything
8. My 1st very early on about 6 weeks. My 2nd not until she was 3 months did she sleep through the night.
9. Every baby is different. My daughter started sleeping through the night at 13 weeks. 12 hours with one or two feedings and then back to sleep. By 4 months she was sleeping 10 hours with no feedings. At her 6 month growth spurt she did start waking again, but after a week she went back to sleeping through. We've had some wake-ups off and on, teething, illness, who knows why, but for the most part she's a good sleeper. But as I said, they're all different and it's very dependent upon bed time (recommended between 6:30-8pm,) nap schedule, and your baby's characteristics.
10. My son started sleeping through the night at 3 weeks old. He is now 9 months old and for the past couple of weeks he has been getting up once a night. All babies are different though.
11. My children were about 6 weeks old.
They were exclusively breastfed so I was very lucky.
Breastmilk starts to digest in about 90 minutes, so I was not thinking they would sleep all night long.
Keep in mind that all night long is technically only 5 hours.
Anything longer is just icing on the cake.
Some babies will not sleep through the night until they are 3 years old.
Some will sleep through the night at 2 weeks old (read one of the posts below)
It is so individualized, that you really can't predict it.
12. Every baby is different. My daughter started sleeping 12 hours straight at night when she was 6 weeks old. No one can tell you when your baby will sleep through the night, because no one knows. Just because he can eat more, doesn't mean he will sleep more.
