How many babies does a tortoise normally have?
Our adult toroise just had babies a few weeks ago
Not sure what tortoise it is (we live in south africa) but we have found 2 so far
There are lots of places they can hide in the yard, so we were wondering if we can expect more?

1. some lay 2 - 4 eggs and some can lay up two 20, check out Austin's Turtle Page an see if you can find out what kind you have.
2. Depending on the type or tortoise is it it can lay anywhere from 2-3 eggs up to 100 or so. I'm thinking being that you live in South Africa you may have a Sulcata Tortoise or Spurred Tortoise. And anywhere between 15-30 eggs are normal. It may also be they Leopard Tortoise with these 5-18 eggs are normal. There is one last major species of tortoise in Africa and thats the Hingeback they can lay from 2-8 eggs depending on species. Which there are four species.
Is this what yours looks like?
