How many babies should people on welfare be allowed to have?

Reproductive freedom will be an issue in 2011. Will the rich have to make their fair share of babies too? Should we close the border and limit immigrants? Or should we reduce the population of the US?

Public Comments

1. 0, this rule would reduce the number of republicans in half over 10 years.

2. as many as they can afford, same as everyone else

3. In the United States, we do not give the government the power to regulate anyone's reproduction. Anyone who is in favor of "small government" should have no problem with this statement.

And the vast majority of people on welfare are on it temporarily. Just FYI.

4. They should be allowed to have as many as they want but they should have to pay for them.

5. 0... much to the dismay of the Liberal base

6. 3 just so no1 can say they are trying to be weened out.

3 children per couple would ensure the survival of their genes

7. As many as they want. The government can't control how many babies someone has. Most people on welfare have full time jobs.

8. Zero, I would hope not the last thing we need is more snobs. Yes close the borders and limit immigration to those who have something to offer our society. Reduce the population, start with Michael Moore, Al Gore, and Anthony Weiner.

9. Ending welfare sounds like a better alternative that governing how many kids someone can have.

10. Your looking for a way to stop the probability from existing. I personally think, sterilization should just be more advertised. Also, the fact that people are on welare doesn't stop them from having the potential to cause beneficial results for the country with proper education. Also you are thinking of people on wel-fare as people that cause social decay, when people that own the production lines are making all the profit of them, with no dips in the economy. I mean the tax money just goes into the wallets of the rich after all anyways from welfare buying.

11. How would you enforce that without it costing more than it already does?

I would be more for incentives through planned parent hood than limitations e.g. on food cards, reserve money for condoms.

12. ZERO.

It is ridiculous for a person to declare that they are unable to support themselves, but then they have babies and give themselves MORE mouths to feed.

Hey, the whole point of evolution is, the ones who have offspring are the ones who can raise them. If you're incapable of feeding yourself without assistance, you should not be producing offspring that you can't feed without assistance. That's just passing on whatever incpacity you have to the next generation, and it becomes perpetuated.

EDIT: You don't want the government telling people they can't have babies? OK then it's very simple. If you get pregnant while you're on welfare, NO MORE WELFARE CHECKS. You're such a big shot that you think you can afford to have more kids, then I guess you don't really need welfare after all.

NOBODY IS FORCING YOU TO BE ON WELFARE. You can have as many babies as you want, just don't expect the rest of us to pay for it.

Those who choose to travel the tunnel of love should not expect the rest of us to pay for the trip.

GETTING PREGNANT IS A CHOICE. Not an entitlement.

13. How about we make welfare charity only and then you can have as many babies as you want and nobody will give a hoot.

14. tuff question if you say how many then the government can control that also i would say that We the tax payer support one cause everybody makes at least 1 mistake in life then after that we should not have to support anymore and if the woman has a abortion then she will lose the benefits for the 1st one it must be put up for adoption or find a job to support all of them

15. Well seeing as there is no office or court with the jurisdiction to enforce such a law in America it's a moot point.

16. There should be no limits on reproduction, but I favor financial incentives for voluntary sterilization. Such incentives would be reduced as you have more children until they reach the point of just covering the operation. The incentive would be collectible once for each person upon proof of sterilization and affidavit of the number of children you have. It would be substantial if you have 0 or 1 child and minimal if you have many. A couple could claim 1 incentive for each person for a total of 2, But if you got into another relationship, you would not get a new incentive.

17. None until they prove they are ready, it is a big government thing, but liberals have caused so many youth to grow up idiot we must play Parent with some people.

I do not think we should have to pay for or even have abortions.
A type of Birth Control should be semi-permanentt/administered by the gov unfortunately on the tax payer's dime if a woman is caught street walking or escorting. And to a man who is not responsible enough to at least help a woman he got pregnant after the second time he father's an illegitimate child, or does not pay child support for no good reason what so ever.

18. As many as they want - provided they can support them without WIC, and Child Benefit. The tragedy is the Child Benefit doesn't help the child at all as they are just a means to an end.

19. Jesus & Mohammet: F$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$CCKKKKKK!!!! YOU!!!
Keith & Lori: And that's ALL WE have to SAY about THAT!!
