How much baby formula should you be feeding your newborn infant in the first several weeks?
When we left the hospital we were told to feed baby 50cc per feeding. 1 week later we are at 80cc of baby formula per feeding. Is that too much? Is there rules on how much you should feed baby per feeding?

1. a newborn, there is no set guidelines, you have to follow your baby's cues. i breastfed and it seemed like i never left that rocking chair, but the pedi was happy with the weight and said feed on cue until about 3 months where they shluld have a scheldule.
2. My son ate 2 oz when he came home and by the time he was a month old he was eating 4-5 oz. Doesn't sound like too much to me.
3. I have four kids and am pregnant with the fifth. I never followed a feeding schedule or kept track of feedings. I let my babies eat when they were hungry and i paid attention to how many diapers i was changeing. As long as they were poopin and peein and were content I let them set their own pace and all of my kids were and are healthy. Do what you think is best!!
4. Doesn't it tell you on the tin how much and how often a baby should be drinking based on their age?
Each formula is different.
5. All babies are different. My daughters baby never ate as much as others the same age. I am speaking of infancy. I worried about that but he did just fine. He was a baby who never had the baby fat other babies had. You just need to check with the pediatritian about this. Is your baby eating more at each feeding but maybe eating every 5 hours instead of every 4? We all worry about our babies but it is always good to stay on top of things.
6. you should be look here http://jyt50.cn,it will help you
7. Every infant is different and has different needs! Guidelines are truly just that...guidelines to begin with, but your child may need more or less. You will also face this question when you begin solid feeding, too. I still ask my pediatrician questions about diet, and he always tells me that there is no normal (some kids eat tons while others sparsley eat, and they can be on the same growth curve). The pediatrician told me that an infant will let you know when he/she is finished or if he/she needs more (I'm still a believer that my daughter would eat herself to death if allowed). Believe it or not, babies are not like fish...you cannot over-feed them!!! :) This is something I received at work (a hospital) when I had my child 9 1/2 months ago:
Average intake by age:
0-2 months 2-5 oz per feeding for a total daily average of 26 oz.
2-4 months 4-6 oz per feeding for a total daily average of 30 oz.
4-6 months 5-7 oz per feeding for a total daily average of 31 oz.
Average intake by weight in a 24 hour period:
8 lb 22 oz
9 lb 24 oz
10 lb 27 oz
11 lb 29 oz
12 lb 32 oz
14 lb 37 oz
16 lb 43 oz
Good luck to you! :)
