When did your baby start to make eye contact with you and track objects with their eyes?
My son is 4 weeks old and still doesn't really make eye contact or hold your gaze.
Most baby books say at 4 weeks old they can accomplish those tasks, but I'm not concerned.
My son was 2 1/2 weeks early which makes him a little later on some milestones.
And I know all babies develop at different times.
When did your baby start making eye contact, or tracking a toy or object with their eyes?

1. around 6-8 weeks is when my son really started to notice his surroundings. He was three weeks early. Give it some time. He'll reach the milestone when he's ready!
2. My daughter started making eye contacts and track objects at 8 weeks.
3. My son was a few weeks early too and he really didn't "wake up" and start to notice the world until around 7-8 weeks. He would sometimes make eye contact, and sometimes track things with his eyes. And sometimes just let his eyes roll around looking at nothing.
Over the course of the next few weeks he more reliably started doing those things. I think it varies, and I wouldn't worry about it yet.
4. I think my son was tracking objects around 8 weeks...and looking at me around 6 or 7.
5. at around 21/2 months. 4 weeks is ridiculuous. you can see a milestone chart at http://www.learning-graph.com/milestones.htm
6. My girl was about 2 and 3 mths before she attempting whacking one with her hand!
7. All of my children were tracking things at around 8 weeks, give or take a few days.
4 weeks is too young.
8. Mine never really did make eye contact until she was about 2-3 months old and tracking an object was about the same. I'm not sure if it's normal but she still doesn't do the eye contact thing much...she's too much of a busy body and she's 10 1/2 months.
9. My daughter came alittle over 2 weeks early as well :)
She makes really good eye contact, although she does lose focus at times. And I noticed alittle over a week ago (when playing with her) that she tracks things with her eyes very well. Although I still don't think she notices tons around her just yet...
I wouldn't worry about it... Its when babys/toddlers continue to get far behind (reaching milestones) and cant catch up that people worry. Every baby is different and reach each milestone when THEY are completely ready.Honestly, Joel is doing fine...But if your concerned just bring it up to his doctor the next appt. I am sure they will reassure you he's doing just fine :)
10. Our baby made eye contact at about 5 weeks (but she doesn't hold it for lengthy periods..just enough to smile and coo..most of the time she's staring to her right or in the direction of light or her favorite thing; the ceiling fan!) and has just started tracking objects this week at her 2-month birthday.
