My friend has a newborn who is very gassy with indigestion. What can she do to help the baby?

The doctor's gave her tips but they do not seem to work. Any natural remedies that is safe for newborn babies? Could it be the milk? Do they have lactose free formula for infants? Do they have vegan formula for infants?

1. I had the same problem with my daughter. We put her on Soy formula and bought over the counter gas drops. It worked. Now she is on regular milk no soy.

2. there are lactose free forumlas..there is even soybased formula but DO NOT CHANGE UNLESS IT IS OKAYED BY THE DOCTOR!!!!!

3. Have the parents check with the pediatrician again and tell him/her that suggestions haven't helped. It's important not to switch formulas without consulting a doctor.

4. You should try soy formula. Just buy a small can of it to see if it makes a difference. Also try the Milicon drops for gas. She could also try massaging the babies stomach for a few min, massaging downward towards her bottom. Then when she is through take her knees and gently bring them up to her tummy, do that several times to try and get that gas to work its way down. When she massages just use some baby lotion to make it more comfortable

5. What formula did your friend use at the hospital? Did that work? For some reason, people tend to change their baby formula after they are released from the hospital. Check with her to see if the formula that was used at the hospital was good for the baby.

Different formula's does different things for different babies. Sometimes it takes a while for their tummies to adjust to different type formula's. I agree with others to not keep switching formula's or trying out too many new formula's. It won't kill the baby but the changes could be a bit stressful.

If the original formula worked, use that. Also, many times the powder based stuff will give gas and cause the baby to be uncomfortable whereas the fluid already made formula (Same brand and type) will be just fine for the baby. Though the already made formula tend to be more expensive, some babies need that.

I hope this helped.
