What clothes should a newborn wear when being swaddled?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew what a newborn should wear when being swaddled. I'm confused as what to put him in depending on the temperature. Also what bedding I may need to use, the swaddle is 100% cotton jersey! Would be grateful for your help!

1. When I swaddled my children I would usually just put a onesie on them
2. dress your baby as you would dress. if it cold then dress in long sleeve and pants. if warm out then a onese is fine.
3. It depends on how cold your house is. If you feel that it is chilly then put a little sleeper on the baby then swaddle. Feel your baby's hands and that will tell you if he or she is cold or not. Best of luck.
4. A one piece would be best
5. I used to put a sleep suit on my girls then wrap them up in a blanket. You will be able to feel if they are over heating by feeling the nape of the neck. They loose heat from their head. Wrap him/her up in the blanket with the sleep suit on and put him/her down in their cot/moses basket and put a lighter blanket over them. If in doubt let them sleep near you. In the moses basket while your in the same room. that way you can check on them.
6. I always put my daughter in a onsie or the sleep & play's by carters. When it was really cold we would swaddle her in a receiving blanket and then a warmer blanket over top of that,
7. We had our DD in long-sleeved, fuzzy onsies underneath swaddling, but it does depend how warm/cold your house is. You do have to be careful not to have them overheat. You can feel their hands or ears as a guide, which should be cooll but not cold, and defnitely not sweaty! If its warmer, I would put a short-sleeved onsies on instead, such as the light cotton ones.
As far as bedding goes, you will need 2-3 crib fitted crib sheets. flannel are good for colder weather. We also got a waterproof mat for underneath, though it hasn't been needed yet. If you use bumpers, they should be the flat type and tied tightly to the crib. Mesh bumpers are even better as far as SIDS goes. They can't have any top sheets, pillows, or blankets. You will need either recieiving blankets or special swaddling blankets (DD got too big for receiving blankets in 1 month) for swaddling, laying on the rug for tummy time, or whatever.
8. In the summer, I would sometimes just put him in a diaper. When it got colder, I'd put him in a onesie. Swaddles wrap around and around and are quite warm. Newborns sweat too, so if you're confused, just reach in and touch his back, or the back of his neck. If it's damp, he's probably too hot.
It's safest to put them down in a plain crib or bassinet - just a mattress covered by a tight-fitting sheet.
9. best advice i ever got was to dress your baby almost you would but just one extra layer. so... imagine you are wearing what he/shes wearing...if it makes you feel slightly warm and uncomfortable thinking of wearing that, then its perfect for baby :)
10. some jordans and a little onesie !
