How much should a nanny for newborn twins be paid?

The family lives in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area. They have a daughter that is six and will need some assistance also like with homework or being driven to activities. They also want light housekeeping. The main part is the newborn twin boys, for which they want a live-in nanny.

I have a college degree and have about two years childcare experience. So, what is reasonable?

1. In New York it would be about $500 cash.

2. I have been a nanny for a while and have found that if you have a college degree and experience you should get at least $600/wk.

3. A live-in nanny is usually paid less than live-out as her rent and meals are included. Where I live in Canada, live-in nannies must be paid at least $9.25/hr, and the employers are allowed to deduct a certain % for room/board. For that many kids though I would suggest starting at $10/hr, with opportunities to discuss a raise after a 3-month probationary period. I f you were a live-out nanny, I would suggest start your asking price at $14/hr.
