How do I get a toddler to overcome hitting and biting?
I work at a daycare center and there's one toddler who is very attached to me and gets jealous when other kids even sit near me and starts hitting and biting them. She also hits and bites when she's very happy and excited. I don't want her to tell her to stop being excited, but she needs to stop hitting because she really hurts the other kids. Any tips?

1. When my daughter was 2 she bit when she was excited/ playing. When I got stern with her she seemed to get angry that I didn't understand it was 'all in fun'. Of course it was not OK.
I got so I could see the look in her eyes when she was about to bite and I would say 'we can't bite our friends' and got her to say 'we can't bite our friends'. It seemed to help that it was pretty light hearted and we could say it and continue to play without going into an arguement. I had her practice first by having two dolls play and one doll bit the other and then we both told the doll 'we can't bite our friends'. I have found that having the kids teach the dolls works really well. good luck.
