What age do you move you toddler from a crib to a toddler bed?
My daughter is 16 months, and is trying to climb over the top of her crib. The crib has already been lowered as low as it can possibly go. Her father seems to think that in a month or two she will be ready for a toddler bed. I disagree. I think she should be closer to 2 years or over. When did you move your child from the crib to the toddler bed?

1. Mine were all at different ages. The longer you can wait the better, but the deciding factor is always when they start to climb out of the crib. My older two went to toddler beds right at 2. My third one went to one at 16 months, she was a monkey and I was scared to death she was going to fall out and break her neck. My youngest is going to be 2 in 2 weeks and hasn't even tried, she is very laid back. I think she will be in the crib for some time to come, thankfully!
2. You can put her in toddler bed now. Next step is to teach her to stay in the bed when it's bedtime....lol
3. When she starts trying to climb over the top. ; )
Age is just a number.
My oldest was 17 or 18 months and my 14 month old will be moving to the toddler bed very, very soon. (He's a little monkey.)
4. I moved my daughter over to a toddler bed when she was 15 months old. She did great!! We transitioned my son when he was 2. He has developmental delays and couldn't crawl or even walk until he was 2. But he handled the transition great.
5. My daughter has been in once since she was 12 months. Once she was able to get out of her crib I took her out of it.
6. My ped said to wait at long as possible, but as soon as they are trying to climb over the crib it is time to move to a bed. My son is 19-months and still not trying to climb over, so we are going to wait. But in your case, I'd have to agree with your husband per my ped's advice!
7. My sister moved her child from a crib to ta toddler bed at 24 months. I had been thinking about this as well and decided that I will do the same, I think it is a good age and you know for sure that they are read because they are more physically abe to stay in a bed and not roll around.
8. Depends on the child. My daughter is 18 months and has been in a single bed for approx. a couple months now. She had bed rails for a month but we ended up taking them off because she is a fairly sound sleeper (doesn't roll or move much in her sleep). Her brother who is 3 yrs old has been in his own bed since he was younger then that (13 months). My kids never climbed out of the crib, they just never liked it. I found that they slept better in a single bed then they did in a crib. So in my opinion its your personal opinion or gut feeling about whether you feel your kids are ready for that or not. For me, I felt that my kids both demonstrated being ready for a big girl/boy bed. They were both in their beds before 2yrs. So if your asking if it can cause harm, my kids did fine and I see no problem with it. If your worried about falling get a bed rail. There cheap and they slip right under the mattress. =)
9. All mine were at different ages as well but I would recommend trying to put her in a toddler bed now so that she can get used to it.
10. If she can successfully climb out of the crib, it's time for a toddler bed. My son was almost 2 when he moved from the crib. Just make sure it has the side rail & she will be fine.
11. 15 months and 4 days (I just looked up the picture). We didn't exactly have a toddler bed, but I took down the side rail and sawed down the legs from her crib. It was a very proud day for my little girl :)
If you look in the baby / toddler section of a local department store, you should be able to find some little rails to help keep your daughter from rolling off in her sleep. (if the toddler bed doesn't come with one)
If your little one is getting close to climbing over the top - it's time to convert her to a toddler bed before she goes over head first. She should be ok. Just make sure her room is baby proofed for when she lets herself up in the middle of the night / early morning.
If you are worried about her falling off and don't want to use rails, there is no rule that says a kid HAS to sleep in a bed. You can put her mattress directly on the floor or have something soft for her to land on right next to her bed.
