Newborn baby girl's diaper leaks urine from the sides. What am I doing wrong and how to prevent this?

It's not all of the time but several times this week I have noticed that baby girl will urinate and it will get all over me or whatever she is laying on. I change her diapers as needed which is frequently so it's not like they are over saturated. Is there something I am doing wrong when putting the diaper on?
I have the smallest diaper on her that they sell.

1. Try changing her more frequently and find a diaper with more padding on the sides.

2. It sounds like they are too loose around the legs. Try a smaller size of diaper.

3. Also, there are little ruffle like things on the sides of the diapers, make sure those are out and not tucked in the diaper. My husband forgets to keep the ruffles out and it causes that kind of leakage.

4. This also happened with my son! Sometimes it was like he didn't even have a diaper on lol. Huggies were bad he always leaked in them, so we tried pampers and they were a little better but he still went through them sometimes, so we tried luvs..and the same thing. We finally went cheap and parents choice are actually great he very rarely has a leak through. You just have to find the diaper that works best for her. Good Luck =)
